👋 Good morning!
Football is back!
Gosh, what a thrill to have the NFL back in our lives.
And about that game: do we want to talk about the Eber-phant in the room?
What about Jack Sanborn missing the open-field tackle on Jalen Hurts’ game-sealing first down run?

So…Who’s Available?

The Bears released their first injury report of the 2025 season on Thursday. However, the team did not practice yesterday, so the report is an estimation.
Here’s what we learned:
DID NOT PARTICIPATE: CB Josh Blackwell (groin), LB T.J. Edwards (hamstring), RB Roschon Johnson (foot)
LIMITED: CB Jaylon Johnson (calf/groin), RB Kyle Monangai (hamstring)
FULL: WR Devin Duvernay (hamstring), DE Dominique Robinson (oblique)
Jaylon Johnson returned to the practice field for the first time since minicamp on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Ben Johnson said: “Whenever a guy misses that significant amount of time, you're very cautious in making sure that that injury doesn't recur again. I know that he's feeling significantly better than, obviously, he was from the start. We'll see what he looks like moving around and, hopefully, take it from there.”
Jaylon Johnson said: “I'm doing everything I can to play. I know I had a good workout this morning, so I'm feeling good, probably the best I felt all offseason, – well, training camp, per se – but just trying to do everything I can to be back.”
As for the running backs, Kyle Monangai returning to practice on Wednesday, despite being considered limited in Thursday’s estimation, is a good sign.
With Roschon Johnson still sidelined by a foot injury, D’Andre Swift is the only fully healthy running back on the 53-man roster. Brittain Brown makes sense as a potential elevation from the practice squad for Monday night.
It’s also worth noting that receiver DJ Moore has taken several snaps out of the backfield in recent weeks due in part to the shorthanded running backs group.
Despite the seemingly severely undermanned running backs room, I still think the most concerning injury on Thursday’s practice report is T.J. Edwards’ hamstring issue.
The Bears’ linebacker depth behind Edwards is a bit shaky and relatively untested. Filling in for Edwards would likely be either third-year linebacker Noah Sewell, who played just five defensive snaps last season, or rookie Ruben Hyppolite II.
Carl Jones Jr, who made the initial 53-man roster before being waived four days later, was added back to the practice squad this past Monday and could be another candidate to be elevated on game day.
We’ll have a better idea of everybody’s availability after today’s practice report, which won’t be an estimation like yesterday’s.

RAIN DEL-YAY! The White Sox did it! Rain delayed the start of the series finale by 90 minutes, but for the first time since 2020, the Sox have swept a divisional opponent in a four-game series.
It wasn’t easy, either. Jonathan Cannon was tagged for five runs in the fifth inning, but the Sox stormed back with a five-run eighth inning to take the lead, including Kyle Teel’s game-tying three-run homer.
Colson Montgomery added some loud insurance in the ninth by way of a 454-foot two-run bomb. It’s the longest of his young career, surpassing the 452-foot homer he hit against the Guardians last month.
Per Scott Merkin, it’s the first time the Sox have won via a comeback in five consecutive games since doing so May 14-18, 1986.
White Sox 11, Twins 7

THREE GAMES TO WATCH: Did you know we have a college football podcast? Yep, that’s right. Joey Christopoulos hosts the ALL B1G Show every week.
I’ll also be covering some Big Ten football throughout the season, so every Friday, I’ll feature my top three games in the conference each weekend. Let’s get started!
No. 11 Illinois at Duke
Saturday, 11 a.m. - BTN
This will be a massive test for the Illini’s ground game. If Aidan Laughery and Kaden Feagin can carry the load for the Illinois offense, they should escape with a win.
Iowa at No. 16 Iowa State
Saturday, 11 a.m. - FOX
The Cy-Hawk! Iowa State is favored in this one, but the Hawkeyes are in an interesting, yet extremely familiar spot with a solid ground game and shaky passing attack.
Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz can set the Big Ten record for most wins as a head coach if he picks up his 206th tomorrow.
No. 15 Michigan at No. 18 Oklahoma
Saturday, 6:30 p.m. - ABC
Playing Brent Venables’ defense in his second collegiate start is quite the tall task for freshman QB Bryce Underwood. But if the Wolverines storm into Norman and leave victorious, it could answer a lot of questions about Michigan’s legitimacy.

Halftime seems like a good time to share that I'll be taking on an additional role as ALLCITY's NFL Analyst. Included in that will be a weekly NFL power rankings column & the first one just dropped!
