👋 Good morning!
Is there anything better in sports than a Game 7?
Hand up — I was pulling for the Mariners. But when you hear a stadium erupt like the Rogers Centre did last night, when Blue Jays OF George Springer clubbed a go-ahead three-run homer in the seventh inning, it’s impossible not to feel something.
I can’t wait to hear what that building sounds like for the franchise’s first World Series game since 1993.
Heck of a game, heck of a series.

Wrapping Up Week 7

Ben Johnson and Jaquan Brisker met with the media at Halas Hall on Monday to close the book on the Bears’ 26-14 win over the Saints.
Here’s what we learned:
Shocker — Theo Benedet isn’t exactly a finished product: That's hardly a surprise after three career starts, and just his second at left tackle.
Benedet was flagged for two of the Bears’ five false starts and allowed three QB pressures on Sunday.
Johnson on Benedet’s performance at LT: “It's inconsistent to say the least. He had a couple of false starts mixed in there. Run-game-wise, he did some good things in terms of moving guys, but probably wasn't as clean as it could be. And then in pass pro, I think [Saints DE] Chase Young got after him just a little bit more than he had liked as well.”
Game Ball: Despite downplaying his chance for revenge against the team that fired him last season throughout the week, Dennis Allen’s locker room speech after receiving a game ball from Johnson gave us a glimpse into how much the win meant to him.
Allen said Sunday: “Sometimes the Good Lord just has a freakin’ plan for you that you don’t know about. And sometimes you ain’t good enough for somewhere else. That’s perfectly fine. I love being here and I love being with this group of guys.”
In the video shared by the Bears’ official social accounts, Allen was mobbed by members of his defense as Johnson gave him the ball.
Jaquan Brisker said Monday: “[Allen] was turnt up. I liked that. He was out of his element. He's all super tough and things like that. But it was good to see him having fun, enjoying it with the players and coaches and the rest of the locker room. It was amazing.”
Johnson also noted the Bears are on a “united mission” to get the passing attack back on track this week, including solving the snap exchange issues between QB Caleb Williams and C Drew Dalman.
But for all of the Bears’ success on the ground on Sunday, just about every aspect of the offense could’ve been better. Johnson agreed.
“We have to get it all cleaned up,” Johnson said Monday. “Good teams don’t have so many self-inflicted wounds.”
After all, the Bears have averaged 8.8 penalties against through six games, second only to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Johnson’s right. But it’s always easier to make those corrections after a win.

Ramp Up To The Ramp Up: The Bulls announced Monday that Coby White (calf strain) will not be ready for tomorrow’s season-opener but that he has resumed on-court activities and will be reevaluated again in two weeks.
White suffered a calf injury in August. The injury is believed to be similar to the one Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton had sustained and played through before rupturing his Achilles tendon in last season’s Finals.
Better to miss a few games now than a full season or longer. The Bulls open the regular season tomorrow night at home against the Detroit Pistons.

Great News! Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno’s 12-year-old daughter, Milana, is back home after undergoing emergency heart surgery in Boston last week. Milana was born with congenital heart defects, requiring multiple surgeries throughout her childhood.
Foligno, who’d been away from the team for the past week, said Monday: “It’s been obviously very stressful, but we found a lot of comfort in the support of the hockey community, fans, old teammates and my second family here [in the locker room].”

How Does This Happen?
Texans just made the same mistake the Bears did in Week 1, allowing a kick return to burn the two-minute warning timeout.
And in this case, the kicker didn’t look like he was trying to kick it out of bounds or out of the back of the end zone.
