Centennial Promos
The Blackhawks unveiled a special year’s worth of promotions for their upcoming centennial season celebration.
BOBBLEHEAD NIGHTS: The Blackhawks will hold bobblehead giveaways for Stan Mikita (Oct. 17), Tony Esposito (Nov. 15), Denis Savard (Nov. 23), Chris Chelios (Dec. 13), Brent Seabrook (Jan. 4), Duncan Keith (Jan. 17) and mascot Tommy Hawk (Mar. 6).
THEME NIGHTS: The team will also host a series of themed nights, including Military Appreciation (Nov. 18), Native American Heritage Night (Nov. 20), Hockey Fights Cancer (Jan. 25), Pride Night (Feb. 2), and St. Patrick’s Day (Mar. 17).
JERSEY UPDATE: The Blackhawks will not bring their alternate all-black sweaters back into the fold this season, team president Jaime Faulkner told CHGO on Tuesday. Faulkner said that while the Blackhawks won’t re-introduce the look until after the season-long centennial celebration, the jerseys are still coming down the road.
The on-ice product hasn’t been anything to write home about over the past few seasons, and this year likely won’t be very different.
But the organization always seems to knock the promotions out of the park. For instance, my desk space at the office is littered with high-quality bobbleheads I’ve collected over the past couple of decades.
As for the black uniforms, Blackhawks fans will just have to wait a bit longer.
I’m a little surprised the returning look isn’t the barber poles, opting for the solid black that the Blackhawks reworked back in 2014 for the Stadium Series (pictured above with that wonky Hawk head tailored for high-definition television)

MILK CARTON OFFENSE: The Cubs’ offense has gone missing! If anybody has an idea of where it might be, please come forward. Since last Thursday’s trade deadline, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Seiya Suzuki, Kyle Tucker and Michael Busch are slashing a combined .143/.229/.159 (.388 OPS) with 26 strikeouts.
Shota Imanaga shoved last night, allowing just one run in 6.1 IP. But deadline acquisition Andrew Kittredge allowed four runs in his second outing with the Cubs.
Reds 5, CUBS 1 (POSTGAME)
TO THE IL: Michael Soroka was officially placed on the 15-day IL with a shoulder strain. Acquired from the Nationals just before the trade deadline, the right-hander left Monday night’s game after two innings of work.
In a corresponding move, the Cubs recalled RHP Nate Pearson from Triple-A Iowa.
HE’S DONE IT AGAIN! Colson Montgomery crushed his eighth career home run on Tuesday night. In 12 games since July 22, the White Sox’s prized rookie shortstop has more games with a home run (8) than without (4).
That’s where the good news from last night’s game stops. Davis Martin allowed five runs on seven hits, including a solo home run and a two-run shot.

SKID SNAPPED: Kamilla Cardoso picked up her ninth double-double of the season (seventh in a row) en route to the Sky’s first win since July 12, snapping an eight-game losing streak.
In games where Cardoso posts a double-double, the Sky are 2-7.
